News: Football at the office
Cheers everyone, and welcome back to another edition of SOTW - number 16 in week 24, June 11-15, 2018. Last week was cut short by building renovations and we never got around to writing the weekly news story – sorry if you came in vain. This week, however, things are back to normal – with work, work, and more work, spiced up by a little World Cup action.
Work work work
As I said in the office earlier today, we’ve been a regular production workhorse this week. And we needed to be. We barely finished any products last week, so the pressure was on to meet deadlines, distribute new marketing collateral, sending quotes and offers, while also hosting clients and partners for pre-planned meetings throughout the week.
Our Monday was spent writing newsletters and press releases, and finishing up some design, images and content for the new Ironside Sports website which will be launched in the coming weeks. In close cooperation with Andreas Andersen, my brother and the man behind the new Singapore sports retailer.
Breaking bread with the French
On Tuesday Bo and I broke break with a new French client – planning and finalizing the cooperation details, spitballing marketing ideas and suggestions, and enjoying some Danish Smørrebrød and Beer in Køge. Not a bad way to spend a windy Tuesday.
Wednesday we were back at the office, designing expo banners for a show in Malaysia, working on that optician project we’ve mentioned a few times before – publication right around the corner, and churning out a few product brochures/fact sheets that will be completed next week. Highlights from Thursday include new print and online advertisements, merchandise and flag designs, and of course the opening game of the World Cup, a 5-0 drumming from Russia to Saudi Arabia. Ouch.
That leads us to Friday. The first day of World Cup matches during working hours, something we kicked off with an afternoon beer with the carpenters and roofers who’ve been working on our building the past few weeks. After lunch we did a little simultaneous working and watching, with Egypt and Uruguay clashing heads at the tournament. Not at all a bad way to spend Friday at work.
That’s all for now – time to sign off, go home and watch Spain - Portugal, Denmark vs. Peru tomorrow, LET’S GO BOYS!, and a weekend at the beach. Next week we’re having a big screen TV installed to enjoy the rest of the World Cup in style. Bye bye!
